Exciting New Television Collaboration
The Pennsylvania Humanities Council leaps forward into digital television production with WHYY-TV, featuring presenters from our widely successful Commonwealth Speakers program.
"Humanities Live is an exciting way to showcase the gifted individuals we are blessed to have in our region and state—people ready to share their lives of learning through dance, poetry, film, sports and music. Through Humanities Live, a broader public will discover, or rediscover, the pleasures of humanities learning," says Joseph J. Kelly, PHC's Executive Director.
Hosted by WHYY's Tracey Matisak (pictured, left), and filmed in front of a live participatory studio audience, Humanities Live brings PHC's talented and knowledgeable speakers to a wider audience than ever before. Five shows were taped at WHYY's Civic Space in Philadelphia in 2007. Their broadcast on WHYY's Wider Horizons digital channel (Comcast 242) runs daily at noon from August 18-29, 2008.
The broadcast date for each episode follows.
Short clips of each show also are available for viewing on-line. To see the clips, visit the individual web page for each show.
