Resources: Evaluating PHC Programs
Electronic Evaluations
PHC is excited to announce that we are transforming our evaluation process.
In 2008-09, organizations and program personnel involved in core PHC programs will
begin submitting final reports using a new on-line process. The shift to electronic
reporting starts with Commonwealth Speakers in October 2008. Electronic reporting
for Read About It! and Humanities Grants will be phased in during 2009.
Why On-Line Reporting?
On-line reports are simpler to complete. They reduce paperwork, postage expenses
and the hassle of filling in paper-based forms.
Web-based reports also will help PHC continuously monitor our programs, ensure that the quality of our programs is high, and boost our service to Pennsylvanians. The on-line reports are part of a new performance measurement system that will increase PHC's capacity to gauge our impact and effectiveness.
PHC's system is being developed in collaboration with Performance Results, Inc., a consulting and evaluation firm which has performed work for a wide range of agencies and organizations such as the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, the Institute of Museum and Library Services and five state library agencies including Pennsylvania.
Note: Please keep in mind that the system is new and is still in development.
Over the next year, PHC plans to streamline the reports. In the meantime, we
welcome your suggestions or concerns. Please send your comments to the appropriate
program coordinator at
